Beorgs of Housetter
(Giant's Grave)
CHAMBERED CAIRN (STANDING STONES)
These two standing stones are the terminal orthostats of an almost totally ruined chambered cairn. They are 2m and 2.7m high respectively and their red granite creates a striking colour difference with the white boulders of the cairn.
The site lies in a spectacular position, on a strip of land between Loch of Housetter to the east and the precipitous hillside of Beorgs of Housetter to the west.
Some 90m to the north there is a ruined round cairn of pink granite boulders locally known as Trowie Knowe (Fairy Mound). And on the steep slope of Beorgs of Housetter there is another small chambered cairn.
