Callanish II
At Loch Roag or Cnoc Ceann à Gharaidh, Callanish II -two fallen stones and five uprights- form an ellipse around a ruined cairn. In October, the sun, viewed from beside the monolith in the main circle, is seen to rise directly behind Callanish II. Many such alignments may be accidental, but the builders of this complex do seem to be aware of and interested in the movements of sun and moon.
Near this circle are Calanais (Callanish I), Cnoc Filibhir Bheag (Callanish III) and Ceann Hulavig (Callanish IV).
